Potted Plant

    The mild heat of the sun rains down upon me as I awake from my slumber. The grass is well water thus soothing on my skin. The bees buzz lightly among the flowers’ bed. The cloudless sky is haunting without cloud pictures strolling by. I forget why I was waking, to such a terrifying day. To be aware of such tranquility cannot be a good fate. But sleep will not come for me as I stay awake during the fearful day. The sun beats atop my skin reminding me that I will stay awake. To my horror laid a seed beside my right side. Knowing what will become of me, I had to take it inside. Swallowing the whole seed, it nestles within my gut. Laying on my back, I feel the roots run amuck. Crawling through my veins, I can feel the plant grow. And when the roots take hold, a seedling burst through my gut. From my stomach, the seedling stretches towards the soulless sky. All I am left to do is to witness the nightmare carry through. From a seedling to a stem to a flower, hours have gone by. What was once my body belonging only to I. Became a pot for a plant. Leaving me hollow inside. END.

The Mannequin

Dark brown skin is left posing nude within a recently abandoned building. The solitary feminine figure is known as the Mannequin. Three items dress the Mannequin's form. An inky fedora, bamboo hoops, and sexy stiletto heels adding height to the Mannequin's stature. The lingering lemony scent of cleaning products fills Melanie's lungs. As she enters the room, she glides towards the Mannequin. Melanie's peter-pan collar mini dress contrasts with the Mannequin's nudeness. Her fedora and stilettos echoing the Mannequin. When she strides closer, Melanie looks at the Mannequin's face under her fedora. Her fellow in Blackness stares back. There isn't a way to deny the hollowness creeping in Melanie's heart. Here she is, in an abandoned room stinking of cleaning products staring down at another abandoned Black body. There's no way for her to take the female Mannequin with her. The Mannequin will be left here, just like before. Guilt is conquering Melanie's thoughts as the minutes drag on.

            Perhaps, the Mannequin finds the chilly building and continuous bustling traffic of the city as a comfort. The abandoned building isn't infested with rodents, yet. She imagines squirmy bodies of rats with crewed limbs from fights over other dead rodents to eat. The Mannequin stuck with the swarm in perpetual danger of being disfigured by ugly pink faces. Unclothed, the Mannequin is exposed to greedy pink fingers clawing at the Mannequin's body. Plundering from the beautiful Black feminine to satisfy the rodents' desires. The rats will scratch at the Mannequin's body, stealing the fedora, stilettos, and earrings. The rat gnawing raw the Mannequin's body until nothing is recognizable. A disfigured body that is similar to Melanie's own. The horror of the vision tears a silent scream from her lips. How could such a nightmare come to pass? It won't, as long as Melanie is willing to prevent it. After all, it is up to the Black female to protect themself from that which wishes to harm.


            Clinging to the Mannequin, Melanie escapes from the abandoned building. Leaving behind the decaying walls covered in fading graffiti, they journey down the stairs. The elevators stopped working hours after the building was left to rot. The steps shutter as the weight of Melanie increased from the time she traveled up them. The pull of gravity doubling with the additional load. Despite the fear of a step giving under the weight, there's only one thing on Melanie's mind. Move forward, and don't falter. For if you fall, you won't be getting up. These thoughts make the Mannequin feel easier to carry. As time goes on, there are moments of struggle due to the weight. But the weight is nothing, all that matters is that the Mannequin and Melanie move to pass the final door and to the greater world once more. The commotion of city life grows closer as the final steps near. There Melanie and the Mannequin are right at the final door.

    The moist cave whistles as the breeze race through it. Water drops haunt every step you take, as you journey deeper into the cave's depths. You have but one goal, when you set out during this early spring morning. It was to collect one or both of the hidden wonders deep within this cave. Light fractures off the cave walls guiding your way. The leather soles of your shoes keep you from slipping as a rock beneath your feet shifts. Steadying yourself once more, you travel farther as the light source dims. Checking your watch, you see that it is only the early evening. You've traveled farther than you first thought, and should be closer to the hidden wonders. As the cave's damp darkness obscures your vision, you pull out a flashlight from your linen pants pocket. With your secure light source in hand, you make your way carefully through the uneven rock path. The damp air causes the white cotton shirt to stick uncomfortably to your back. With your beige linen pants clinging to the inside of your thighs and the backs of your knees.

    The insistent drops of cave water following your every step, every breath causes you frustration. It's just constant noise and your throat dries. The cave walls glisten with water but it's undrinkable to you. Not a drop can touch your spit moisten lips. Each drop haunts your mind. How much deeper does this cave go? When will you come upon the hidden wonders? Your thirst remains unquenched. The wind mocks you as it whistles by again. Until, before you are the wonders which you seek atop an alter. A golden hammer and crystal cup filled with possible water. While the gold catches your eye, it is water that you desire. You take a drink.

I Dream of Fairies

 Hello everyone and sorry for the late post. Because of mental health reasons I've been lacking in the writing department. I won't be skipping updates to my blog it's just that the uploading schedule will be off. I will continue to post once a month. If you desire updates more often I suggest becoming a patron on my Patreon as that's where most of the fun stuff is.

    Under the magenta glow of twilight in the field of daisies, I rest my weary body within the meadow of flowers. The sun is a blur in the distance I care not to follow. Its distant relatives are invisible with the sun's light still dominating the sky. The moon nothing but a promise as it has yet to climb through the heavens. The shapeless fluffs that decorate the sky drift slowly. My gaze can not seem to form pictures amongst the clouds. I must be tired, but sleep gallops away. My feet are not quick enough to match sleep's speed. As night awakes, my vision darkens. Playful fireflies skip across daisy petals. I can not recall when everything went dark. Flickers of colorful light dance before me, surely I am no longer alone. These bursts of light don't reflect the mundane beauty of fireflies nor graceful eventide light. Catching my ear, a bout of giggles fills the meadow of daisies. Curious, for I was all alone when I found myself here.

The giggles creep closer, and as the noise overwhelms me, I hurry to blink away the dark. As if it were day, I find myself surrounded by tiny glowing bodies. They are like colorful flames, lovely in their gentle glow. With chubby cheeks stuffed with laughter, I feel myself wishing to join them. For several days I've been drawn tight with anxiety and weary with depression. The greenery of the meadow was to relax and massage away the strain of living. I fled to be alone, to disappear into nature, thus finding myself among the fairies. Maybe these adorable beings will spirit me away? Better to completely vanish than leaving a body behind for loved ones to find. I'll be less trouble that way. Resting upon my back as chuckling round faces peer down at me is causing unfortunate thoughts, best to sit up. Rising in the sitting position allows me to exam the accurate size of fairies. With a nervous hand, I gently touch the fae to my right.

She seemed not to take offense, and I carefully touch her hair with my middle finger. If I were to enclose my hands around the fae, there would still be room for her to move. Hostile eyes return to being playful as the other fairies observe my interaction with their friend. Nearer the colorful fae come, and I continue to familiarize myself with the one sitting in my right hand. As the fairies creep near, my vision gets obscured, and in a blink, I'm somewhere else. The meadow of daisies is gone, and the human-size fae replaces the ones that fit in my palm. I've entered into the land of the fay and am likely never to return home. It is not giggles that surround me, but ethereal music meant to enchant. I feel my limbs move against my desires, and I find myself in a dance. Trap in a daze, I go from one fay's arms to another, becoming an unwilling partner to any fairy who will have me. The longer I dance, the harder it becomes to break from the trance. Do I have to believe this is not what the fae requires of me?

Within the arms of the most stunning fae, I get kissed breathless. But from the kiss, I swallowed the wine of the fairies. All thoughts of home are doomed. My return to the meadow of daisies with dancing fireflies is impossible. Consuming food or drink from fairyland as a human is forbidden. My body trembles and hot tears glid down my cheeks. I'm mute and can do nothing as the fae who caused my fate wraps his arms tighter around me. I assume the fae takes my silence as consent as I get whisked away from the other partying faires. The ethereal music is a whisper as he guides me into the forest's depths. The unnatural glow of fairyland woods keeps me on edge. Our journey would have been romantic, but panic prevents me from settling. Although the fae and I grew more distant from the partying fairies, I can still hear the music. I remain haunted by the dance, which has led me here. Over and over, the obsessive thought of what will happen to me now weakens my knees. As the pain of falling claims my mind, I think to slip to force myself awake. The fae lifts me in his arms, and we depart from the ground.

In a mockery of romance, ferried through the air like a maiden to the marital bed. Then again, considering my evening so far, it appears that's where we're heading. I'm nervous about what is to happen, and my dry cheek becomes damp once more. The fae whose arms carry me hums as if to calm. His voice at least is pleasant as I spiral into mental depression. Flailing will cause me to plummet to my death. He'll outrun me for I can't fly. Asking to be let go is impossible, for I'll die once I leave fairyland. All I wanted to do was relax. Depart from the daily chaos my life had twisted into. The adorable fireflies skipping across daisies under a magenta sky were a slice of heaven for my mind. Unaware was I that I rested at the door of fairy kind. Some way somehow, I appealed to them enough for me to become a permanent resident of their land. However, if I had insulted the fae, I very well could have been killed. Dying by pixie dust isn't an appealing way to go. I feel a laugh break through my breast, a broken sound like my hopes to escape this fae.

He lands in front of a charming wooden cottage as whimsical as a youthful dream. Under different circumstances, I would love to live in a fantastical home compared to the cookie-cutter house that holds my childhood memories. Setting me down on the wooden porch, he opens the door and guides me inside. I can't even take a good look at everything inside as I am lead to the head bedroom. Once inside the bedroom, I gasp in surprise. The romantic setting is breathtaking. The aroma in the room is comforting, and I unwind. Only on my honeymoon did I dream of such a sight. Unprompted, I stroll further into the bedroom and sit atop the bed. Unexpectedly when I sat upon it, the bed felt perfect beneath me. Oh, what a dream, what a fantasy I found myself in. He stood before me then, and a gentle smile graces his lovely face. My calmer state seems to please the fairy. My lips can not help but greet his smile.

"This is better than being dead?" his voice breaks my silence.

"There are worst dreams, I suppose," I fear I won't stop talking.

Somehow his smile becomes brighter, "Don't worry from now on, you're my wife. I'll be sure such melancholy will never take root inside you again."

Hot tears accompany my final sentence for the evening, "Than I pray, you bring me happiness."

With the sun nothing but a promise, and the moon as the queen of the night, I became a fairy's wife. For if this is a dream, it is a dream I can no longer depart from anymore. But hearing, seeing, and feeling the fae I now call husband has caused me to realize I was never in a dream, from the start.

These tossed bodies are mine to claim.

Here they are thrown over a ship’s side.

Since no one wants them, they’ll be mine,

Summer Cruise

    It's the beginning of summer. The cruise ship, Luxurious Pearl, hosts the annual Starfish Isle tour. With calm waters and skies ahead, Anthony believes it'll be an easy voyage. With the crew and guest aboard, Luxurious Pearl sets forward into the warm blue of the sea. The calm waters rock the ship gently as soft music plays through the speakers. Anthony spots Captain Johnson speaking to a few of the wealthier guests on the cruise before he departs to likely check that the ship is on schedule. Anthony himself makes small talk with different guests while keeping an eye on anyone who might make trouble.
    
    The first night is usually quiet as guests start getting settle on the ship. Getting used to their sea legs and seeing endless blue from all directions. It is smooth sailing for days one and two. It is on day three when the trouble started. Rough waters and overcast skies with humid air. The guests split into two groups of guests who try to make the best of the gloomy situation and guests who are blaming the Captain and crew for the sea and sky. Day six is the roughest day, for Luxurious Pearl.
    
    Salty water hammers the sides of the ship. A hurricane of wails and running feet manage to drown out the raging sea. Anthony rushes around the panic of crewmates and guests of the luxury cruise ship. The ship was gliding atop the water when it abruptly started tilting from side to side unnaturally. To understand what's causing the strange movements, Anthony peers over the side. His eyes widen as the chaos behind him doesn't register. A massive shadow belonging to the creature below is beneath the ship.
    
    Dread consumes Anthony as semitransparent tentacles climb up the ship. The slim limbs of the creature are similar to jellyfish tentacles. He has to warn the captain of this. "Captain!" Anthony shoves himself away from the ship's side. "Captain!" Anthony pushes serval guests out of his way. He makes eye contact with other crewmates. None of them seem aware of the tentacles rising on the hull of the ship. The fury of steps and screams drown out Anthony's attempts as he searches for Captain Johnson.
    
    Sadly he fails to find where Johnson has gone as shouts of "What are those!" Anthony is too late. As of now, the jellyfish-like tentacles are slithering across the deck. Stumbling in his steps, Anthony accidentally pushes a guest into a hunting tentacle. He watches as guests and crewmembers get pulled over the ship. As hysteria sinks into everyone on the cruise, more semitransparent tentacles slither up the side of the ship. As more tentacles entangle Luxurious Pearl, Anthony realizes that they are all doom. More than a dozen tentacles wrapped themselves around the ship crushing it downwards into the sea. Luxurious Pearl was never seen again.

Patreon Request 5:Striding Down The West Hallway

You depart from the candlelit living room stuffed with floral print furniture. The vanilla aroma from the candles clings behind you as you step into the west leading hallway. Yellow light illuminates your way as you travel down the hall. The portraits of recent ancestors crowd the twin vertical surface. Their bodies are blurry and shot in black and white.  The ghostly figures model so that their eyes track the person haunting the ancestor hall. Red oak floorboards will cry in protest when a heavy foot lands atop them. You've long since learned to glide across the red oak. Now you only cause a whimper to rise from the floor. The colorless eyes track you while the floorboard whines. A scream from red oak comes from behind.

            Your whole body halts, and you hesitantly turn your head to peer behind you. Who it is, you can not tell. You know they weren't there before. Then the shadow person shambles towards you as candlelight illuminates their movements. You don't even shout and turn back around to run across red oak wood. Red screams lift from below as you try to escape. Chaotic shrieks stalk you as the stranger chases from behind. Your ears fill with the rapid red beat of your heart. Your humid ear fills with your huffing breath. Beneath you, your feet tangle. You're slamming into the floor. The wails from behind warn you of the approaching stalker. You scramble to stand again and take off. As hot red panic overtakes you, you duck behind towering black shadows.

            Petrified, you shallowly breathe. The long black shadows conceal you from sight. Your anxiety climbs as you hear the wails announcing your stalker near. You fear to breathe and sweat stings your eyes. You can't see the stalker pass you by due to the density of the shadow. An icy tickle runs up your back from the glass window. You force yourself not to shiver as too heavy a movement will telegraph where you are. You bite the inside of your lip to focus on the pain instead of your fear. Counting down inside your head 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, you can now calm down. Your lip no longer hurts as you exhale. You realize that you're behind the heavy burgundy curtains in the west hallway. Not hearing any new movement, you remove yourself from behind the curtains. You creep across the floor to avoid alerting your stalker.

            Lifting your heels from the red oak floor so as not to make the floor scream in protest. You somehow managed to draw attention to yourself. Then your right knee gives out, causing your heel to slam down. A red scream peels from the floor. You feel eyes scratch over your skin. Your stalker heard your misstep and now is coming for you. You can't even think as you run off once more. An agonizing scream chases you down the west hallway.  You continue this fright of narrow escape for the rest of your life.

             A six-year-old girl is up past her bedtime. Sitting atop the stairs, she hears murmuring voices. Who could be downstairs? Scooting down a step, she leans forward. Holding on firmly to the edge of the step, she can catch the talking properly. It sounds like her older siblings.

            "John, you better have a good reason why you were out so late!" Sara barely controls her anger.

            "I was just with Theo and Drake. It isn't a big deal," he says.

            "Please spare your lies. I texted both of them, and neither one knew where you were." Sara pauses. "Where were you."

            The silence that trails after Sara's demand births dread inside the six-year-old girl. Her big sister isn't someone who likes mystery. She worries that John and Sara are going to start screaming at each other. It's been nearly two days since John returned home. What kept her big brother away?

            John lets out a long sigh, "I wasn't doing anything you need to worry about."

            "You're not answering my question." Sara taps her foot.

            "Stop doing that!"

            "Then answer my question!"

            "I don't have to!"

            "I swear if you keep this up-"

            "What are you going to do, Sara?" John chuckles. "What can you do?"

            "John, please just talk to me." Sara's foot isn't tapping. "Whatever is causing you to disappear like this isn't worth fighting over."

            The silence that follows encourages the six-year-old girl to scoot to the next step down. Their parents are out on a business trip. With them gone, John's been leaving home for hours without letting Sara know. John hasn't been gone for two days though. Whoever he's with isn't someone Sara knows. This makes Sara worry. John usually brings friends over to the house to meet their family. Or at least introduce them to Sara. This isn't normal for John. The youngest doesn't hear any talking. She hesitates and comes down another step. She's closer and should be able to continue listening.

            "Let's talk in the morning. I'm too tired to argue." John sounds exhausted.

            "Fine. Hopefully, Jessica is asleep and didn't hear you breaking in." Sara doesn't seem to be following John.

            Realizing that John will be coming upstairs, Jessica crawls up the steps she scooted down from. When she reaches the top, Jessica hurries into her bedroom. Hopping atop her bed, Jessica pulls up the sheets and covers. She closes her eyes and pretends to sleep. She hears John's feet drag past her open door. Sara hasn't come upstairs. John's bedroom door closes firmly.

Last as long as you can and put up a good fight,
As more guests arrive.
